Active-duty service members may feel the sting of a shutdown, according to Elon University professor Jason Husser.
"We're already seeing that potentially, this could be the first time in years, if ever, that active duty military might not receive payments," Husser said.
TSA agents, border patrol officers and others considered "essential" still have to show up, but without a paycheck, patience may wear thin.
