PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Planned Parenthood has announced it will no longer provide sexual and reproductive health services to patients covered by Arizona’s Medicaid program.

This change affects patients who rely on the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS), the state’s Medicaid agency.

Funded by federal and state dollars, Medicaid is the largest single payer of maternity care in the U.S., covering more than 40% of all births nationwide.

With this supension, Medicaid users will no longer be able to get family planning, STI tests, cancer screening and birth control from Planned Parenthood.
