ST. LOUIS - Travelers from various parts of the country stood outside the Gateway Arch on Wednesday and expressed disappointment over its closure.

“I’m not happy with politicians today,” said Minnesota resident Gary Weeks.

Visitors can still walk on the Gateway Arch grounds, but the national monument’s doors are locked because of the federal government shutdown.

“I’m disappointed. We thought part of it was going to be open,” said Virginia resident Sally Kizer.

The Gateway Arch website indicates refunds for pre-purchased tickets will take place.
