MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - In the wake of deadly shootings at churches and schools across the country, leaders in Dane County say they are taking more proactive steps to protect their congregations.
On Sunday, four people were killed and eight others hurt after a man drove into a Mormon church in Grand Blanc Township, Michigan, set it on fire and opened fire inside. The shooting, which ended when police fatally shot the suspect, touched faith communities nationwide.
Just weeks earlier, a gunman fired through the windows of Annunciation Catholic School in Minnesota during a children’s mass, killing 8-year-old Fletcher Merkel and 10-year-old Harper Moyski , who previously lived in Madison.
