The NBA is set to launch a European league in collaboration with the International Basketball Federation. The competition is scheduled to tip off in 2027, with teams based in London and Manchester.
Commissioner Adam Silver confirmed that six regular-season games are already planned in Europe over the next three years. He also hinted at the possibility of NBA Europe teams eventually competing in the postseason.
Meanwhile, Bloomberg reported that the NBA is preparing to sell franchises for its African league. In an interview, Silver highlighted the unique potential of the continent.
“It’s a continent where they’ve not experienced the same level of sports investment as other places in the world,” Silver said.
