Football is on TV, Spirit Halloween stores are opening — fall is officially around the corner. The only thing left is for Oklahoma's leaves to change color.

Fall foliage appears when the leaves change from green to yellow, orange and red and then fall from the trees, said Brandon Fuller, a doctoral candidate and lecturer in the biology department at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC).

This is typical of the dormancy process; they store the chlorophyll, which gives the leaves their green color, and with it stored instead of dispersed, nature's canvas begins to change.
