Storm Amy is set to hit Scotland later this week as the Met Office warns of gale force winds and heavy rain battering the north-east when the severe weather arrive.

Weather warnings for wind have now been updated, with parts of the north-east now under an amber warning for high winds from tomorrow (Friday, October 3) from 5pm, and will remain in place until 9am on Saturday morning (October 4).

While Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire will avoid the new amber warning, parts of Moray including Elgin and Forres will be hit by the most severe alert.

Meanwhile, the beginning of the yellow wind warning currently in place for Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire has been brought forward from 6pm to 3pm on Friday and will remain in place through the entirety of Saturday, concluding at 11.59pm.
