MENDON — Mendon senior Gracie Schultz believes she focuses more when playing in big games.
It showed on Tuesday evening when the top-ranked Hornets beat visiting Battle Creek St. Philip, ranked third, in four sets. The matchup of highly ranked teams had emotion throughout the gym, ranging from the fans in the stands, including the student sections, to the student-athletes on the floor.
"I think it's really fun. This is going to be one of my favorite matches that I will have played, I think," Schultz said. "I love the student sections, I love the full crowd. I think it helps me focus more, the high-pressure games."
Mendon won the opening set at 25-18. Following that, Battle Creek St. Philip won the second at 25-16. In each game, the winning team seized control and did not let the other g
