People are being advised to prepare for the weekend by getting enough batteries on hand. The guidance comes from the Met Office as a precaution, should parts of the country experience power outages during severe weather conditions.

Storm Amy is expected to quickly turn intense on Friday (October 3) and into the weekend as it nears the UK. Experts are predicting extremely powerful winds and torrential rain across much of the country.
