AUSTIN, Texas — A man wanted for the murder of a 23-year-old woman in Karnes County is now behind bars after being arrested in downtown Austin.

Investigators say Severiano Valdonado had been on the run for 13 days after going through three Central Texas counties.

Severiano Valdonado was arrested in downtown Austin after troopers with the Texas Department of Public Safety recognized him and say he attempted to flee. Troopers used a stun gun to subdue him and take him into custody. He is now being held at the Travis County Jail and is awaiting extradition to Karnes County.

The case began on the night of September 18 in the small town of Runge. Around 11 p.m., authorities responded to reports of a shooting in the 800 block of Leckie Street. When first responders arrived, they found 23-year
