COLUMBIA, S.C. — Cayce officials say they don't believe there is an immediate danger from the hazardous materials situation Thursday morning but continue to operated with a high level of caution as they close out the situation.
Officials said they were hoping to open up the area and rescind earlier evacuation orders from nearby homes before 1 p.m.
The City of Cayce Fire Department says the incident happened at Crystal Clean, located at 627 Poplar Street. According to officials at 6:52 a.m. vapors were seen rising from a tanker truck parked at the business. By 7 a.m., fire units were on the scene, and their first priority was to determined what was leaking out.
