Most bites from brown recluse spiders occur between March and October, according to the University of Tennessee Extension Service.

They are commonly found in dry, dark and undisturbed areas within the home.

The brown recluse spider, with its six eyes and distinctive violin-shaped markings, is one of the most feared arachnids in the U.S. and according to the University of Tennessee Knoxville Agricultural Extension Service , most bites occur between March and October.

Although the crawlers are more common in the western half of the state, they can be found in every county in Tennessee with the possible exception of a few extreme eastern counties.
