The number of abortions performed in Ohio did not spike after voters approved a constitutional amendment protecting access to reproductive rights.

The Ohio Department of Health reported 21,829 abortions or 8.4 abortions for every 1,000 female residents in 2024, a less than 1% decline from the year before, according to the annual report released Oct. 1.

The number of out-of-state patients increased by 13% between 2023 and 2024, underscoring the impact of abortion restrictions in surrounding states after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in 2022.
