The Met Office have issued several weather alerts, including a danger to life amber warning, with the first named storm of the season set to hit the UK this weekend.

The Met Office issues severe weather warnings for a variety of phenomena including rain, ice, hail, snow, wind and others. Over the course of the next few days, there are several alerts in place across the UK for wind and rain as Storm Amy is set to hit.

According to the UK weather agency , Storm Amy is currently developing in the Atlantic and will bring "disruptive wet and windy weather " for much of Scotland, Northern Ireland, northwest England and northwest Wales from Friday into the weekend.
