A box truck crashed into a barrier on Interstate 83 in Dauphin County Thursday morning, according to PennDOT.
The crash happened around 6:50 a.m. on mile marker 44 northbound near 19th Street, PennDOT’s spokesperson Fritzi Schreffler told PennLive.
Schreffler said heavy traffic is building up as crews work to remove the box truck from the barrier. Once it’s cleared, they will inspect the barrier for damage before reopening the road, as it could affect traffic.
The crash is causing heavy traffic in the southbound lanes due to rubbernecking, she said.
Cameras are showing a white box truck on the barrier being handled by crews.
It’s unclear if the box truck driver is injured and what caused the crash to occurr.
