PHOENIX — A man sustained serious injuries after a shooting incident with officers in Phoenix, officials said.

The incident occurred Thursday morning near 7th Street and Sunland Avenue. Police said no officers were injured during the incident. The injured man was taken to the hospital.

Police officials said officers were dispatched to a local residence for reports of an individual allegedly making suicidal statements. Upon arrival, officers tried to communicate with the individual.

During the encounter, police officials said a man ran out of the house with a knife. Two officers reportedly used less-lethal force and two other officers deployed lethal force.
