COVENTRY, R.I. (WPRI) — The Coventry Town Council was slated to meet Thursday to discuss whether to remove Council President Hillary Lima. But before the meeting could take place, Lima announced her resignation.

Lima's decision is the latest development in a months-long dispute between council members.

The conflict stems from a disagreement over how Coventry's finances were being presented by Town Solicitor Stephen Angell.

Some councilors took issue with Lima and Angell providing the council with heavily redacted legal invoices that supposedly go against the town's charter.
