A 16-year-old girl was in critical condition after being shot in the face Thursday morning at a residence in the Washington Park neighborhood, Chicago police said.

Shortly after 7 a.m., the teenage girl was in a residence in the 5600 block of South Michigan Avenue when she suffered a gunshot wound to the chin, police said. The girl was taken to UChicago Medicine where she was listed in critical condition.

No one was in custody for the shooting and detectives were investigating.
