A record number of community members filled the sidewalks downtown Wednesday, Oct. 1 for the Domestic Violence Awareness Walk, an annual event marking the start of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Dressed in purple and carrying signs that read “Love Shouldn’t Hurt” and “Break the Silence,” participants walked about a half-mile from Legal Aid of Northwest Texas to the Potter County Courthouse lawn. There, food trucks, resource booths and a program of speakers awaited, including law enforcement leaders, elected officials and families of victims.
