MADISON, Wis. -- Wisconsin is now one step closer to closing its last remaining youth prison facility, Gov. Tony Evers announced Thursday.

Evers' administration and the Wisconsin Department of Corrections reached full compliance Monday with 50 court-ordered reforms at the Lincoln Hills and Copper Lake Schools.

By coming into compliance, the state can now move towards ending court-required monitoring of the facilities. The ultimate goal is to move the young people housed at Lincoln Hills and Copper Lake to facilities closer to their homes, close the prisons and convert them into adult institutions.
