A central Indiana elementary teacher has been named the state's top teacher, while a LaPorte educator was runner-up for the award.
Megan Johnson, a fourth grade teacher at Central Elementary School in Plainfield, was named the 2026 Indiana Teacher of the Year by the Indiana Department of Education on Wednesday.
“Mrs. Johnson has made it her mission not only to improve outcomes for the students in her classroom, but to support her colleagues in doing the same for their students," said Indiana Secretary of Education Katie Jenner in a statement.
