MOORHEAD — Federal agencies on Tuesday, Sept. 30, accused Minnesota of violating federal Title IX laws by allowing transgender athletes to participate in women's sports.

A news release from the Department of Education and Department of Health and Human Services said that the Minnesota Department of Education and the Minnesota State High School League "violated Title IX’s prohibition on sex discrimination by allowing males to compete in female sports and occupy female intimate facilities.”

According to the release, an investigation conducted by the eduation and health deparments, along with the Department of Justice, found that male athletes were allowed to compete “over the course of several years” in Minnesota high school girls sports, including alpine skiing, Nordic skiing, lacrosse, t
