Title: Canadian Border Services Agency Kiosks Experience Outage

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) reported a second outage this week affecting primary inspection kiosks at several airports. The issue was first noted on Thursday morning and has since been resolved.

At 11:30 a.m. ET, the CBSA announced on social media that there was an outage impacting some airports. They stated, "We are working with partners on fixing the issue. We apologize for any inconvenience this outage may cause and thank you for your patience."

A follow-up message was issued shortly before 2 p.m., confirming that the outage had been resolved. However, the agency warned that travelers might still face delays as normal processing resumed.

This outage follows a similar incident that occurred on Sunday, which also resulted in delays for travelers. During the latest outage, Toronto Pearson International Airport indicated that Terminals 1 and 3 were affected, advising passengers to expect longer wait times.

A CBSA spokesperson confirmed that the outage began around 10:20 a.m. ET and impacted primary inspection kiosks at multiple international airports across Canada. While the spokesperson did not specify which airports were affected, these kiosks are utilized at nine major Canadian airports, including Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec City, and Halifax, as well as Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport.

During the outage, travelers were redirected to primary inspection lines for manual processing. The spokesperson emphasized that safety and security standards were maintained throughout the incident, with border services officers verifying travelers' identities and conducting necessary screenings.

In addition to the airport kiosk issues, a separate system outage earlier this week at some road border crossings also caused delays for commercial traffic entering Canada. Reports indicated that this issue began late Monday evening and affected ports of entry in the Southern Ontario Region, with partial resolution achieved by the following day.
