The introduction to running for Remie Ellis came when she ran alongside her mother, Constance, when she was little.
Ellis has stuck with the sport since.
And she’s found a lot of success.
The Eaton Rapids sophomore and latest LSJ high school athlete of week winner added to that success Saturday, Sept. 27, when she set a school record at the DeWitt Invitational. Ellis had a time of 18:23.4 at the invite while finishing first.
"It was real exciting," Ellis said of her school record. "I kind of didn't believe it. It was just really surprising."
The Sept. 27 race marked the second consecutive meet where Ellis broke the school record. She first broke the record of 18:35 set by Nola Rogers in 1984 when she had a time of 18:33.4 at the Apples to Apples race held at Uncle John's Cider Mill o
