South Jones High School was placed on a precautionary lockdown Thursday after officials were made aware of a social media post involving the school, according to the Jones County Sheriff’s Department.
Authorities emphasized there is no active threat. The lockdown remains in effect while deputies investigate. Multiple Jones County Sheriff’s Department units — including Sheriff Joe Berlin — are on campus.
During the lockdown, students may not leave campus and cannot be picked up, school officials said.
This is a developing story. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
