Sep 28, 2025; Inglewood, California, USA; Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford (9) sets to pass in the first half against the Indianapolis Colts at SoFi Stadium.

An NFC West divisional matchup will be featured on "Thursday Night Football" for the second consecutive week when the Los Angeles Rams (3-1) face the San Francisco 49ers (3-1).

One week after returning from shoulder and toe injuries, Brock Purdy will not play tonight after he was ruled out ahead of "Thursday Night Football" in Week 5.

He's not the only 49ers starter set to miss Thursday's game. Wide receivers Ricky Pearsall and Jauan Jennings will also not suit up. All-Pro tight end George Kittle (hamstring) also remains sidelined, leaving Christian McCaffrey to receive the lion's share of work among 49ers skill position weapons on Thursday night.

Mac Jones will get his third start of the season for San Francisco after starting for the injured Purdy in Week 2 and Week 3. Jones completed 53 of 80 passes (66.3%) for 563 yards, four touchdowns and one interception in his two starts. He will have his work cut out for him tonight against the Rams.

Matthew Stafford and the Rams offense have been terrific through the first month. The wide receiver duo of Puka Nacua and Davante Adams has been a key cog in the Rams' hot start.

Nacua is coming off a career-high 170-yard performance against the Colts in Week 4 and already has three games with at least 10 receptions and 100 yards. He leads the NFL in yards (503) and receptions (42) entering Week 5.

Los Angeles has notched three straight wins against their division rivals but 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan is 10-7 all-time against Rams coach Sean McVay.

Stafford and Co. will look to establish dominance in the NFC West against the rival Niners. Here's what to know about "Thursday Night Football" in Week 5.
