TORONTO, Ohio (WTRF) — A truck fire near Fourth and Henley streets slowed traffic in Toronto on Thursday afternoon, authorities said.
The fire started around noon in the bed of a parked truck carrying cardboard. Firefighters and police responded quickly, pulling smoldering cardboard from the truck to fully extinguish the flames.
Debris was left scattered across the roadway.
The fire caused a traffic backup that lasted about 45 minutes. No injuries were reported.
Officials said the fire's cause has not been determined.
While heat from the sun may have contributed, investigators believe it is more likely that a discarded cigarette sparked the fire.
Fire officials said the quick response kept the fire from spreading to nearby structures or vehicles.
