AMES — Ask ESPN’s Bill Connelly, and there are 23 college quarterbacks better than Iowa State junior Rocco Becht.

One month into the season, ESPN ranked every power-four conference quarterback from No. 1 down to No. 68. Becht fit in the top half of Connelly’s rankings, coming in at No. 24. Here is the full list . It starts with USC’s Jayden Maiava at No. 1, Vanderbilt’s Diego Pavia at No. 2 and Ole Miss’ Trinidad Chambliss at No. 3.

Some surprises, based on what we thought we knew entering the season, are Big 12 preseason Player of the Year Sam Leavitt ranks at No. 31, Texas’ Arch Manning at No. 41 and Clemson’s Cade Klubnic at No. 54.
