JOHNS ISLAND — Deputies charged a man with felony DUI more than a month after he allegedly drove into a ditch, causing his vehicle to roll over and his passenger to be ejected.

Th victim’s body was not found until several days later.

The Charleston County Sheriff’s Department announced 19-year-old Irineo Pimentel Guerrero’s arrest on Oct. 2. The case stems from a collision that occurred around 7:20 p.m. on Aug. 22 on Fickling Hill Road.

Pimentel Guerrero first told deputies a passenger had been in his vehicle. But deputies searched the area without finding anyone and he later said he was the sole occupant of the gold 2002 Honda Accord that had landed on its roof.
