TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) - A suspect has been arrested in connection to the death of Tucson bicyclist Enrique Mercado.
Michael Francisco, 26, was arrested on Oct. 1 after the Tucson Police Department tracked him down near Stone Avenue and the Tohono Tadai Transit Center.
Francisco faces a second-degree murder charge for the stabbing of 44-year-old Mercado.
On Sept. 23 around 9:16 p.m., a 911 call came in about a stabbing on a bike path. Upon arrival, TPD officers found a victim with a stab wound to the torso area, according to an interim complaint.
The victim, Mercado, was transported to Banner University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead shortly after.
