City of Wanneroo councillors have officially approved a plan to install dog waste bag dispensers at more than 400 additional parks in the city, a sixfold increase on existing services.

Currently, the city’s waste services tend to 335 parks with about 1200 general waste bins, but only 102 dog waste bag dispensers are installed across 81 parks.

After last week’s decision at the ordinary council meeting, the city will now move ahead with the sixfold expansion of dog poo bag dispensers, adding 507 new dispensers to cover an expected 486 parks.

The rollout will be implemented over a five-year period, with costs expected to total $2.5 million in a “worst-case scenario”.
