BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio (WTRF) -- Belmont County has a deputy whose focus is to investigate one particular type of crime--illegal dumping.
His cruiser is marked Environmental Enforcement.
It's a joint program between the Belmont County Sheriff's Department and the JB Green Team that's been in existence for about a decade.
A lot of the dumping occurs along rural roads.
But some occurs in the areas where the JB Green Team has collection bins for specific types of recycling.
A large part of my job is following up on complaints of illegal dumping such as tires, mattresses, just general trash that everybody's annoyed seeing on the side of the road.”
In Barnesville, there was a gentleman that dumped some oil into our paper bin that caused a lot of problems in the fact it had to be remediated
