GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — On Saturday, Oct. 11, from 5 to 8 p.m., the Butterfly Pond at Las Colonias Park, located at 290 Main Street, will be lit up by hundreds of water lanterns floating on its surface for Water Lights at Night.
The annual event, hosted by Grand Junction Parks and Recreation, is free to attend; however, people can purchase lantern kits to launch on the water. Every kit will include a lantern, an LED tea light and a marker for decorating. Individual kits cost $8 before the event date online and $10 at the event. A portion of the profits from the kits will go to the GJ Plays Foundation, a volunteer-based organization that supports projects and programs enhancing local parks and recreation.
