BAXTER — A 91-year-old East Gull Lake man was injured Wednesday, Oct. 1, after his vehicle caught fire at highways 210 and 371 in Crow Wing County.

Assistant Baxter Police Chief Lance Herbst said officers responded to the incident at 4:03 p.m. He said the call initially came in as a driving complaint, as the 2022 Subaru Outback had been at the westbound stoplight of Highway 210 for about three cycles. When the first officer arrived on scene, the vehicle was on fire.

Herbst said the man was having a medical emergency and was pulled from the vehicle by a good Samaritan. The man had suffered injuries.

The driver was taken to Essentia Health-St. Joseph’s Medical Center by North Memorial Health Ambulance with unknown injuries.
