HICKORY, N.C. — A Lenoir man will spend up to 13 years in prison after pleading guilty to firing multiple rounds into a crowded downtown Hickory parking lot on New Year's Day, striking an innocent bystander and a vehicle.

Javier Hampton Trevino Jr., 21, was sentenced Thursday to an active prison term of 10 to 13 years following his conviction on three counts of attempted first-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury. Superior Court Judge Nathaniel J. Poovey handed down the sentence after Trevino entered a guilty plea in Catawba County Superior Court.
