Thursday morning brought flooding concerns to parts of Volusia and Flagler counties, as high tide and heavy rain sent water over several roads by the rivers.
In Daytona Beach, “The Fishin’ Hole,” a bait and tackle shop on Beach Street, took on about six inches of water early Thursday. Manager Mike Corkle said the area is used to flooding, especially during king tides.
“It’s flooded a couple times this year,” Corkle said. “With all the rain and the tides, you flood the whole street, then it comes into the building.”
Thankfully, he says the store’s cedar wood floors hold up well. Once the tide went down, the water receded quickly, and fans have been helping dry things out.
