SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) – World renowned primatologist Jane Goodall has died at age 91. Throughout her many years advocating for animal conservation and education, Goodall spent some time in South Dakota.

Goodall was known for her chimpanzee research, humanitarian efforts across the world and author of over 20 conservation and environmental books, as well as countless children's books about nature and animals.

Goodall died October 1.

In the early 2000s, she made multiple trips to South Dakota, including twice to the Bramble Park Zoo in Watertown from 2005 to 2007. The zoo is a member of Goodall’s environmental youth program called Roots and Shoots.
