Delaware has plenty of road construction zones, and the Department of Transportation is urging drivers to be extra careful, especially when flaggers are present.
According to DelDOT, two flaggers in separate work zones have been hit by inattentive drivers in the past week. One of them was seriously hurt in the Route 13-40 area, and remains hospitalized.
Drivers are urged to be extra cautious, slow down and be courteous around flagging operations.
" Flaggers have an important role in controlling traffic movements around a work area and we need everyone to be patient and attentive when traveling through work zones. Next time you see a flagger, be neighborly and give them a friendly wave in appreciation of the work they are doing!," DelDOT said through social media Thursday.
