CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Guardians made history in the regular season by overcoming a 15 1/2-game deficit to claim their third American League Central Division title in four years.

But when the chips were down in October, it was the team they originally beat out — the Detroit Tigers — who came away with the last laugh.

The Tigers' bats got to the Guardians' exhausted bullpen in the late innings and Cleveland's offense couldn't get much of anything going in a 6-3 loss in the decisive Game 3 of the AL Wild Card Series. Detroit advances to the division series beginning Saturday, where it will face the AL West champion Seattle Mariners.
