MONTROSE, Colo. (KREX) – To describe the Lockheed Constellation as a rare aircraft would be an understatement. There are only a handful of them left, and just a single airworthy "Connie" left flying.

"There's three that are considered flyable," said flight crew member JD Dale, " There's this one, there's one in Austria and there's one in Australia. The two that are out of the country are considered flyable, but they've got some major maintenance issues that they're dealing with. So this one is the only flying right now."

It's stationed on Colorado's Western Slope in Montrose, in partnership with the Air Legends Foundation but before it came here, it belonged to one of America's key voices throughout the Korean War: Gen. Douglas MacArthur.
