London police reported a surge in 911 calls and paramedics transported nearly two dozen people to hospital during the homecoming celebrations over the weekend.

An estimated 15,000 to 18,000 people filled the streets around Western University Saturday afternoon, with up to 8,000 revellers remaining into the evening. No criminal charges were laid, police said.

In total, police and bylaw officers dished out 136 tickets for public nuisance parties, excessive noise and parking violations. Middlesex-London paramedics transported 23 people from the campus area and downtown to the hospital on Friday and Saturday, police said.
