CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - Flanked by law enforcement officials, West Virginia Gov. Patrick Morrisey gave an update on Thursday about his administration’s efforts to prioritize law and order.

The governor announced that in partnership with the federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency (ICE), the West Virginia State Police has arrested 37 illegal immigrants in the past 11 days.

Since Sept. 21, the WVSP has arrested 27 illegal immigrants at routine traffic stops and 10 at DUI checkpoints.

Morrisey said in the press conference that he expects more arrests of illegal immigrants will come.

“It’s always hard to predict the future, but you saw the number in such a short period of time,” Morrisey said. “So, that tells me that there’s a lot of work that needs to be done.”
