CLEVELAND COUNTY, Okla. (KFOR) — The Cleveland County Sheriff's Office says effective immediately, patrol coverage will increase within the City of Lexington.

According to Sheriff Chris Amason, beginning Friday, October 3, 2025, the Lexington Police Department will have only one full-time police officer available to provide law enforcement services within the city.

“These additional patrols are necessary to ensure the continued safety and security of Lexington’s residents,” Sheriff Amason said. “As Sheriff, I have the ultimate statutory and constitutional responsibility to safeguard public safety throughout Cleveland County. Our office will fulfill that duty until a permanent law enforcement solution is in place for the City of Lexington.”
