Jury selection will go on as scheduled Friday in the trial of Konstantinos Diamantis, the former deputy budget director who was in charge of awarding grants for school construction projects in Connecticut. He is accused of soliciting bribes from two construction companies to secure contracts.

On Thursday, Diamantis’ attorney Norm Pattis filed a motion to continue the trial because of the government shutdown.

In his memorandum he argued that prospective jurors may be confused about whether they should appear for jury duty.

He also wrote “Mr. Diamantis requests rescheduling the trial to a time when the passions that led to the shutdown of the federal government have had a chance to cool.”
