NORFOLK, Va. — The scheduled return of the USS Truxtun (DDG 103) has been delayed, the Navy confirmed.

The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer was originally scheduled to return to its homeport of Naval Station Norfolk on October 6, finishing a nearly 7-month deployment to the U.S. 5th and 6th Fleet areas of operation.

However, a Navy spokesperson updated on Thursday to say the arrival will not happen as planned "due to operational reasons." No new date for the homecoming has been set at this time.

The Truxtun's crew of 300 sailors, along with the "Vipers" of Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron (HSM) 48, began their deployment on March 15.
