YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) - There was a regional meeting of the Ohio Mayors Alliance on Thursday in Youngstown. Any meeting of public officials right now is trying to find a solution to one major issue, and that topic was a focus of this group as well.
Five mayors and just as many state lawmakers heard how important the property tax constitutional issue is on the Ohio ballot.
"That would wipe out nearly $30 billion in revenue for schools, counties, townships, sheriff's departments, police departments," said Kerry McCarthy, executive director of the Ohio Mayors Alliance.
The Ohio Mayors Alliance represents the state's 30 largest cities.
It's advocating for property tax reform, but a change that doesn't have dramatic impacts on local public services.
