When I visit the Finger Lakes, I generally head to the area's many fantastic wineries, but my husband and I recently hosted visitors who had other ideas.

We headed to the Finger Lakes on a Friday and by the end of the day, our visitors had had enough of wine tastings. When they spotted signs for breweries and distilleries, they wanted to head in that direction. We spent Saturday and Sunday hitting mostly breweries and distilleries, which not only serve different beverages but also tend to have a more relaxed vibe.
