SAN DIEGO — A California aquarium‘s Halloween spirit runs deep – 12 feet under, to be exact.

The Birch Aquarium at Scripps Institution of Oceanography added a fake skeleton from Home Depot to its giant kelp forest exhibit to up the spookiness this October.

Chris Emmet, Senior Life Support Systems Aquarist at the aquarium, says there were some concerns about how spooky it might be for some guests, but those worries were soothed quickly after installation was complete.

“People have been enjoying the novelty of it and it's really taken off on social media,” he said in an email. “So far, it seems like kids can't get enough of it.”

It’s so popular their of the team setting it up has nearly 45,000 likes.
