If you're driving southbound down I-75 outside of Chattanooga, you've probably noticed the two giant domes when looking outside the passenger window. The multi-million dollar project has been underway for months, but with ongoing closures and construction, many are wondering: what is this new facility?

Those two circular structures are going to be giant water storage units, each holding up to 15 million gallons of water, and are part of the city's efforts to improve water quality and flow in the area.

“There was not enough capacity in our collection systems to handle the rain events, and we were getting too much sewage mixed with rainwater overflowing,” says Mark Heinzer with Chattanooga’s Waste Department.
