CLEVELAND, Ohio – Firefighters battled two separate fires at the same Cleveland home Wednesday, with the second blaze causing extensive damage to the upper floors of the residence.
Fire crews first responded to the home in the 1000 block of Ansel Road in the St. Clair-Superior neighborhood earlier in the day for a small fire involving a hot water tank in the basement, said Lt. Mike Norman, a spokesman for Cleveland’s fire department.
Crews pulled the electrical meter following the first incident, but there still might have been electricity feeding through a bad ground wire, Norman added.
The second fire broke out about 11 p.m., affecting the second and third floors of the house and extending through the roof.
The fire caused an estimated $250,000 in damage, officials said.
